WOW! What a treat!
I just stumbled on this by accident after spending a while on Don Boyds terrific site w/ his ton of historic Miami photos. When I saw "Reela Films" it rang a bell, and, sure 'nuff, my Dad (Ed Bollinger) was the photographer and his long time pal Oscar Barber was the editor on this promo. Reela made a bunch of shorts, mostly for WTVJ, as well as commercials. After Reela, Dad went on to Soundac Productions where, among other things, they produced "Colonel Bleep", the first color cartoon shorts made specifically for TV. It's a real thrill to see some of Dads work after all these years. Many thanks for making it available.

A classic
I was born in Miami- my parents moved there only a few years after this film was made. This is a classic Miami travelogue, complete with shots of the Miami Beach hotels, Miami Beach mansions, the Everglades, Lincoln Road, tropical gardens, fabulous restaurants like Wolfie's, and alligator wrestling. It also provides a fascinating portrait of life in Miami beyond tourism, with a look at University of Miami, local industry, business, and neighborhoods like Coral Gables. It brought back a lot of memories for me. It has more than nostaliga value, however- it perserves a view of Miami when it was one of the most glamorous travel destinations in the world, and a growing city.I award the Miami Tourism Board 10 out of 10 for this film - I was ready to move back to Dade County by the end. I also loved the helicopter scenes and give the producers a Michael Jackson child safety award: I kept hoping the father wouldn't drop the poor toddler while they were looking over the landscape.

I need a break from all this Vacationing!
Whirlwind tour of the Dade county area of Miami, primarily focusing on recreation in the area. A couple and their toddler daughter go on a HELICOPTER tour of the region. Now first of all, the couple are hardly secured in that thing, making me wonder what would happen if they had an argument! They get a birds eye view of the many pastimes around, like the shoreline, the farm land and other locales. Suddenly, the family feels they need a Âtime out for a swim.A time out.. from what? The Vacation? ThereÂs a first. TheyÂre soon back on the chopper though, hilariously hovering what looks to be 3 feet above the ground while we imagine them waaaaaay up in the air. The continuing back and forth from chopper to land continues, until at last the family sets down for a night time dinner. And before Dad chows down on that mound looking thing he was served, the family looks out into the night time sky to see.. A day time shot. LOL. Classic!

Beautiful
I was born in 1960 next to the university and lived down the street from the Dade Co. Auditorium. This film is priceless.
